Gangabal lake trek is certainly one of the most stunning treks in Kashmir. The trek begins with a drive from Srinagar to Naranag village on the first day. The drive winds its way through the national highway and parallels to well-known Sindh river. The drive is enjoyable as you take in the stunning Sindh valley mountain ranges. The drive winds upward until it reaches the village of Naranag after passing through charming and tranquil villages.
Upon arrival at Naranag, we start ascending toward the Trunkhol meadow. The base of Butshree Mountain is where the trail begins. This mountain’s entire trail winds through the thick jungle of pine and deodar providing shade from the sun. Until it opens onto the stunning Trunkhol valley’s large meadows.
Gangabal lake is the most important alpine lake in Kashmir. This is the pleasant spotlight of the Gangabal Lake Trek. Hence the trek is given its name after this splendid lake. The lake stands at an altitude of 3587m. The lake is located at the bottom of Harmukh Mountian. It has a spiritual significance. Gangabal lake is a short trek, the trekking path is as beautiful as the destinations it passes through crystal clear brooks, lush green meadows, and delightful gorges and ridges.
